DUIT PANTAS

(‘Fast Money’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

1. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)
- Sehelai duit kertas, kalau boleh yang baru
(‘A dollar bill, preferably a crisp one’)
- Seorang sukarela
(‘A volunteer’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

(‘Hold the dollar bill as in drawing at upper left. Allow someone to hold his hand ready to catch it. Count one, two, three. As it is dropped it will move between the thumb and fingers before the lower hand can grasp it.’)

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)

(‘It takes time for the eye to see that the bill has been released, time for the brain to tell the hand to grasp, and still more time for the muscles in the hand to obey.’)

KERTAS CINCIN – berjalan melalui kertas

(‘Paper Ring – Walk Through Paper’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

1. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)
- Sehelai kertas kitar semula.
(‘A recycle paper’)
- Sebatang pembaris
(‘A ruler’)
- Sebatang pensil
(‘A pencil’)
- Pemotong – seperti pisau, gunting, pisau tajam atau bilah cukur
(‘A cutter – such as cutter, scissor, sharp knife or razor blade’)

(‘Cut the paper as shown above in the drawing. The paper can be opened out, so that the hole in it is large enough for a person to step through’)

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)

(‘This trick depends on the lines that we drew and how we cut the paper. Make sure that you cut alternately, side to side, left and right. This will form a big hole that fit enough for a person to walk through.’)

Mercury is the closest planet to the sun
Venus comes next it's the hottest one
Earth comes third the only life that we know
Mars has the largest canyon and volcano

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune

The gassy planet Jupiter, the largest you will find
Saturn has rings around the outside
Uranus is funny ‘cause it spins on its side
Neptune looks blue, the coldest of its kind

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune

Okay get ready
We're gonna say all the planets really, really, really fast
Can you keep up?

The Water Cycle Song

The Water Cycle
Takes the water and moves it
Up and Down and all around the Earth

Evaporation comes
When the heat from the Sun
Warms up all the groundwater
Then it turns to water vapor

Condensation takes over
It goes up to the clouds
Water vapor cools down
And it changes to a liquid, now

Precipitation happens
When the drops get big
It falls like Rain, Snow, Sleet, and Hail upon my head
I know it's the water cycle happening again
Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation

CAWAN BOLA KERTAS

(‘Paper Ball Cup’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

(‘This activity is to help pre-school learn about gravity. It also involves hand-eye coordination and encourages to learn to count.’)

2. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)
- Renyukkan kertas A4 kitar semula untuk membuat bola kertas.
(‘Crumple a used A4 paper to make a paper ball’)
- Reben 40 cm
(‘40cm ribbon’)
- Sebuah mug
(‘A mug’)

3. Ikat reben pada bola kertas. Biarkan bola luar dari mug
(‘Tie the ribbon to the paper ball. Let the ball out of the mug.’)

(‘Swing the ball backward and forward slowly. Then swing it up and try to catch it
with the mug.’)

(‘See how many times you can catch the ball in the mug.’)

(‘Ask questions: “Why did the ball fall?” and “How did the ball get into the mug?”’)

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)
(‘Gravity affects everything. By throwing the ball up, it goes against the gravity but it will still fall due to gravity pulling it back.
To get the ball into the mug, you will need to use your hand-eye coordination and try to move the mug using your hand to the right location, right before the ball falls.

RINGGIT LOMPATAN ARNAB

(‘Ringgit Bunny Hop’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

(‘This activity is about stability and centre of gravity.’)

2. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)

*Sukarelawan, duit ringgit.
(‘A volunteer, any amount of money.’)

(‘Place the ringgit flat on the floor. Ask a volunteer to stand with the ringgit in front of him. Tell him to bend over and grab his toes.’)

(‘Challenge him to jump over the ringgit bill while holding onto his toes (without falling over). Tell him that if he can do it, he can keep the ringgit.’)

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)

(‘This busking involves to center of mass, center of gravity. This is a point where the body mass is concentrated. This trick is virtually impossible to do without losing balance because the centre of mass shifts when trying to jump over the ringgit. Initially the center of mass is over the feet. When jumping, the centre of mass tend to shift forward. Most people need their arm to counterbalance this shift.’)

DUA CECAIR BERTUKAR TEMPAT – SAINS CECAIR

(‘Trading Places - Liquid Science Magic Trick’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

(‘This science magic trick or demonstration can be performed using many different liquids, such as water and oil. All you need are two liquids that have different densities. If the liquids don't mix (such as water and oil), you will get a clearly-defined separation.’)

2. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)

(‘two identical glasses, water, oil, a thin waterproof card’)

3. Isikan satu gelas dengan air dengan penuh.
(‘Fill one glass completely full with water.’)

(‘Fill the other glass completely full with the other liquid you selected.’)

(‘Place the card over the water glass. While holding the card onto the glass, flip the water glass over and set it and the card on top of the second glass.’)

(‘Line the glasses up so that they are even and move the card so that there is just a tiny bit of open space at the edge of the glasses.’)

(‘Over the next few minutes, the liquids will exchange places. The oil will rise to the top while the water sinks and fills the bottom glass.’)

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)

(‘The two liquids have different densities from each other. Basically, the lighter liquid will float while the heavier liquid will sink. You would see the same result if you had removed the card entirely, except this way is prettier and looks more magical.’)

(‘NATURAL AND MAN-MADE MATERIALS’)

(‘All materials around us can be classified into two categories which are natural materials and man-made materials.’)

(‘Natural materials are the materials that come from plants, animals and nature.’)

3. Bahan – bahan semulajadi sekeliling kita termasuk kayu, kapas, getah – tumbuhan; kulit, bulu/bulu pelepah, sutera – haiwan; dan tanah liat/tanah, logam, petroleum – alam sekitar.
(‘Natural materials around us include wood, cotton, rubber – plants; leather, fur/wool/feather, silk – animals; clay/soil, metal, petroleum - nature.’)

BELON SATAY

(‘SATAY BALLOON’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

1. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)
* Beberapa pencucuk satay yang nipis
(‘Several thin bamboo satay skewers’)
* Belon getah yang besar – sederhana pun boleh
(‘Large latex balloon’)

(‘Blow up your latex balloon to a point just short of being full--so that it’s still a little squishy—and so there is a dark area at each end. Knot it off.’)

(‘Using a twisting motion as you go, poke the sharp into the dark, thicker latex near where you tied the balloon off. Drive the skewer all the way through to the dark latex on the far side. Still twisting, push the skewer through the far side of the balloon.’)

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)

Beberapa ketika, udara terbocor keluar.
(‘Expect a pop? The balloon will hold its air, because the polymers in the latex haven’t been stretched to their fullest point. They can still stretch and surround the satay skewer. In fact, you can keep going. See how many skewers you can drive through the balloon. As long as you leave them inside, the balloon will hold most of its air. After a while, of course, air will leak out.’)

BELON TIDAK MELETUP APABILA DIBAKAR DENGAN API

(‘BALLOON DOESN’T BURST WHEN WE LIGHT UP WITH FIRE’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

1. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)
2 belon, pemetik api/,mancis, lilin, air.
(‘2 balloons, a lighter/matches, a candle, water.’)

(‘Inflate one of the balloons and tie it closed. Place 1/3 cup of water in the other balloon, and then inflate it and tie it shut.’)

Pastikan api mengenai belon. Perhatikan apa yang berlaku? Belon itu akan meletup.
(‘Light a match and hold it under the first balloon. Allow the flame to touch the balloon. What happens? The balloon breaks, perhaps even before the flame touches it.’)

(‘Light another match. Hold it directly under the water in the second balloon. Allow the flame to touch the balloon. What happens with this balloon? The balloon doesn't break. You may even see a black patch of soot form on the outside of the balloon above the flame.’)

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)

(‘Why does the balloon with no water break in the flame? The flame heats whatever is placed in it. It heats the rubber of both balloons. The rubber of the balloon without water becomes so hot, that it becomes too weak to resist the pressure of the air inside the balloon – air expands when heated.’)

(‘How does the balloon with water in it resist breaking in the flame? When water inside the balloon is placed in the flame, the water absorbs most of the heat from the flame. Then, the rubber of the balloon does not become very hot. Because the rubber does not become hot, it does not weaken, and the balloon does not break.’)

(‘Water is a particularly good absorber of heat. It takes a lot of heat to change the temperature of water. It takes ten times as much heat to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1°C than it does to raise the temperature of 1 gram of iron by the same amount. This is why it takes so long to bring a teakettle of water to the boil. On the other hand, when water cools, it releases a great deal of heat.’)

GERHANA (‘Eclipse’) – Bahagian 1 (‘Part 1’)

Definisi ‘Gerhana’?
(‘Definition of 'eclipse'’)

(‘Eclipse an interception or obscuration of the light of the sun, moon, or other luminous body, by the intervention of some other body, either between it and the eye, or between the luminous body and that illuminated by it.’)

Gerhana Bulan berlaku apabila Bulan bergerak melalui bayang – bayang Bumi; Gerhana Matahari pula berlaku, apabila Bulan berada di antara Matahari dan pemerhati.
(‘A lunar eclipse is caused by the moon passing through the earth's shadow; a solar eclipse, by the moon coming between the sun and the observer.’)
ruj : definition

(‘Eclipse is an astronomy phenomenon happens when an astronomy body pass through the shadow of other astronomy body.’)
ruj : ms wikipedia

(‘The Earth and the Moon have two type of motion, which are revolving and rotating. The Earth rotates on its axis, from west to East (it takes 24 hours = 1 day) and also revolves around the Sun along its own orbit (it takes 365 ¼ days = 1 year), from West to East.’)

(‘Click here to know more about the motion of the Earth’)

(‘The following video shows about the rotation and the revolution of the Earth’)

(‘The Moon also rotates on its axis, from West to East (one complete rotation takes 29.5 days same as the time taken for the Moon to complete one revolution around the Earth). The Moon revolves around the Earth from West to East, on its axis and at the same time follows the Earth to revolve around the Sun.’)

BELON TIDAK MELETUP APABILA DICUCUK

(‘BALLOON DOESN’T BURST AFTER IT’S BEING STICK’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

1. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)
Belon getah, pita selofan, beberapa jarum peniti.
(‘A balloon, sticky tape, several pins’)

2. Tiup belon dan kemudian ikat.
(‘Blow up a balloon so that it's full but not so full that the balloon is tight. Make a knot in the balloon or tie it off with string.’)

Panjang kira – kira 1 inci setiap satu.
(‘Make a cross on the balloon with sticky tape. Just stick one piece of sticky tape about 1 inch long on the balloon then put another one inch piece of tape over the first but in a cross shape.’)

(‘Stick a pin in the balloon and it will not pop. Stick the pin in the middle of the tape and there you have it... a balloon with a pin sticking out of it!’)

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)

(‘Air pressure is very high inside the balloon. Most parts of the inner walls of the balloon are being pushed out by the air. So that the rubber is stretched to their maximum limit. If we stick the balloon with a pin, it going to break.’)

(‘The function of the sticky tape is to hold the rubber wall together, and prevent the balloon from breaking. The sticky tape give an additonal force to the rubber walls to hold the pressure of air inside the balloon.’)

DAYA GESERAN BUKU

(‘The phone book friction’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

1. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)
• 2 unit of phone book/book (‘2 buah buku telefon/buku’)

2. Rombak dua buah buku telefon dengan cara tindihkan setiap muka surat selang – seli.
(‘Shuffle two phone books together like a deck of cards.’)

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)

(‘He/she can't. Even TWO people can't pull them apart.’)

(‘Each page in contact has the friction caused by the weight of the pages above it pushing down. This allows for a tremendous amount of friction.’)

RAMBUT SAYA TEGAK KE ATAS

(‘My hair is straight up’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

1. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)
• Belon getah kecil (‘Small Rubber Balloon’)
• Sukarela yang berambut panjang dan kering (‘Volunteer with dry long hair’)

2. Tiup belon dan kemudian ikatkan (‘Blow up and tie off the balloon’)

(‘Rub the balloon quickly on your hair back and forth a number of times.’)

(‘Notice what happens as you lift the balloon away from your head (make sure your hair is very dry and clean)’).

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)

(‘When you rub the balloon on your hair, it becomes charged with static electricity.’)

(‘As the rubber slides over the hair, molecules of rubber form temporary bonds with molecules in your hair by sharing some of their electrons.’)

(‘When the balloon moves on, the bonds break, sometimes leaving an electron or two stranded on the wrong side of the bond. As the electrons spend slightly more time on the rubber side of the bond, the balloon ends up with many more electrons than it began with and leaving it with an overall negative charge! Conversely, you hair has lost some of its complement of electrons so it is now some of its positively charged protons are not cancelled out anymore and leaving the hair with an overall positive charge.’)

(‘As oppositely charged objects attract each other, your hair sticks to the balloon as you lift it off.’)

CUCUK SAYA – AIR TIDAK AKAN KELUAR

(‘Stab me – the water doesn’t come out’)

Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)

1. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)
• Beberapa pensil yang ditajamkan (‘Sharpened pencils’)
• Beg plastik bersaiz sederhana (‘Plastic bag (medium size’)
• Air (‘Water’)

(‘Fill a plastic bag with water and seal the top tightly.’)

3. Cucuk satu pensil ke beg plastik.
(‘Stab one pencil into the plastic bag.’)

(‘Puncture the bag with several newly sharpened pencils, the water won’t leak out, never a drop.’)

Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)

(‘Plastic is a form of synthetic polymer. It is made through the polymerisation process, and its raw material (ethylene-a type of gas) comes from petroleum. It is tough yet cheap and widely used in everyday applications.’)

(‘Most plastic bags are made of polyethylene. When polyethylene is heated, its molecules shrink, so when you stab a pencil through the polyethylene bag, the friction of the pencil against the plastic heats the polyethylene molecules and causes them to shrink around the pencil. That’s one reason why no water will leak out.’)

(‘In a competition, plants which are strong will win. If plants (especially the weak one) cannot get enough sunlight, water, nutrients and space, their growth will be retarded/stunted, the plants will be short and small.’)

(‘Some of them may die because they fail to compete with other plants.’)

(‘Comparison between the healthy plant and the non-healhty plant (wilted) can be observed through different characteristic’)

PERSAINGAN UNTUK CAHAYA MATAHARI (‘Competition for sunlight’)

(‘Plants in the rainforest of our country do not grow equally fast. This is because they receive different amount of sunlight, water, nutrients and space.’)

Persaingan antara tumbuhan di dalam hutan (‘Competition among plants in the forest’)

(‘Each plant in the forest will try to grow taller to get more sunlight. Plants have many ways to get sunlight when only a little reaches them.’)

(‘Plants with woody stem will be more successful in the competition for light.’)

(‘Plants with woody stem shoot up tall and straight to get sunlight’)

(‘Low – growing shrubs are often stunted because they do not get enough sunlight to grow The plants depend on other plants to get enough sunlight.’)

(‘Plants with weak stems will use special adaptations / abilities to reach for sunlight such as hooks, clasping roots and live on top of other plants to get sunlight.’)

(‘The long bean plant coils around an object to climb up for more sunlight.’)

(‘The money plant uses its clasping roots to climb up, attach itself to the trunk of a tree.’)

Pakis Tanduk Rusa (‘Staghorn ferns’)

Paku Pakis Langsuir (‘Bird’s nest fern’)

(‘The staghorn fern and bird’s nest fern lives on top (epiphytes plants – plants that grow on the branches on tall trees) another tree to get sunlight.’)

(‘The bitter gourd plant climbs up a tall structure with its tendrils.’)

(‘Lianas (woody vines) climb up the tree trunks to obtain light.’)
