Bagaimana melakukannya?

1. Helahan Sains ini ataupun tunjukcara ini boleh menggunakan beberapa jenis cecair, antaranya ialah air dan minyak. Apa yang diperlukan hanya dua jenis cecair yang berlainan ketumpatan. Jika kedua – dua cecair tidak bercampur (seperti air dan minyak), ia boleh menampakkan kesan pengasinan dengan lebih jelas.

2. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan
(‘What Do I Need?’)
*dua gelas yang sama, air, minyak dan satu kad yang kalis air.
(‘two identical glasses, water, oil, a thin waterproof card’)
3. Isikan satu gelas dengan air dengan penuh.
(‘Fill one glass completely full with water.’)
4. Isikan gelas yang kedua dengan cecair yang dipilih (minyak) sampai penuh.
(‘Fill the other glass completely full with the other liquid you selected.’)
5. Tempatkan kad di atas gelas yang mengandungi air. Pegang kad dan kemudian terbalikkan gelas berisi air di atas gelas yang kedua.
(‘Place the card over the water glass. While holding the card onto the glass, flip the water glass over and set it and the card on top of the second glass.’)
6. Sebariskan kedua – dua gelas dan gerakkan kad secara perlahan sehingga terdapat bukaan pada hujung gelas.
(‘Line the glasses up so that they are even and move the card so that there is just a tiny bit of open space at the edge of the glasses.’)
7. Dalam lebih kurang beberapa minit, kedua – dua cecair akan bertukar tempat. Minyak akan naik ke atas sementara air akan bergerak tenggelam ke dasar gelas.
(‘Over the next few minutes, the liquids will exchange places. The oil will rise to the top while the water sinks and fills the bottom glass.’)

Kedua – dua cecair mempunyai ketumpatan yang berbeza – beza. Asasnya, cecair yang lebih ringan akan terapung sementara cecair yang lebih berat akan tenggelam. Anda akan mendapat keputusan yang sama jika anda mengalihkan kad sepenuhnya, tapi cara yang ini akan nampak lebih magika.
(‘The two liquids have different densities from each other. Basically, the lighter liquid will float while the heavier liquid will sink. You would see the same result if you had removed the card entirely, except this way is prettier and looks more magical.’)
