BELON TIDAK MELETUP APABILA DICUCUK

1. Bahan – bahan yang diperlukan

Belon getah, pita selofan, beberapa jarum peniti.
(‘A balloon, sticky tape, several pins’)

2. Tiup belon dan kemudian ikat.
(‘Blow up a balloon so that it's full but not so full that the balloon is tight. Make a knot in the balloon or tie it off with string.’)

3. Buatkan tanda pangkah di atas permukaan belon dengan menggunakan pita selofan. Panjang kira – kira 1 inci setiap satu.
(‘Make a cross on the balloon with sticky tape. Just stick one piece of sticky tape about 1 inch long on the balloon then put another one inch piece of tape over the first but in a cross shape.’)

4. Cucuk satu jarum dan ia tidak akan meletup. Cucuk di bahagian tengah pota selofan itu tadi dan belon itu tidak akan meletup.

Bagaimana ia berlaku?

Tekanan udara adalah tinggi di dalam belon. Sebahagian besar dinding dalam belon adalah tertolak keluar oleh udara. Ini membuatkan getah dinding belon meregang pada kadar yang maksimum. Jika kita mencucuk belon pada keadaan ini, ia akan meletup.
(‘Air pressure is very high inside the balloon. Most parts of the inner walls of the balloon are being pushed out by the air. So that the rubber is stretched to their maximum limit. If we stick the balloon with a pin, it going to break.’)

Fungsi pita selofan adalah memegang dinding getah belon bersama, dan menghalang belon daripada meletup. Pita selofan memberi daya tambahan bagi dinding getah belon untuk mengatasi tekanan udara yang ada di dalam belon.
(‘The function of the sticky tape is to hold the rubber wall together, and prevent the balloon from breaking. The sticky tape give an additonal force to the rubber walls to hold the pressure of air inside the balloon.’)
