Bagaimana melakukannya?
(‘How to do it?’)
1. Penuhkan gelas dengan air.
(‘Fill a glass to the top with water.’)
2. Letakkan (tekapkan) sekeping kertas pada bahagian mulut gelas. Kalau boleh gunakan kertas tebal seperti kadbod.
(‘Place a piece of paper on top of the glass. Thick paper works best.’)
3. Terbalikkan gelas dengan cepat dan kemudian lepaskan kertas. Tekan sedikit permukaan kertas supaya tidak berlaku kebocoran air.
(‘Flip the glass upside down really fast and let go of the paper. You can help it by pushing the paper firmly on top of the glass so that no water leaks out.’)
4. Anda akan lihat bahawa kertas tidak terjatuh ke bawah dan air tidak terkeluar dari gelas.
(‘Now you will see the paper doesn’t fall down dan the water is still inside the glass.’)
Bagaimana ia berlaku?
(‘How this works?’)
Air ditolak ke bawah dengan adanya tarikan graviti tetapi udara di sekeliling kertas menolak kertas ke atas dengan daya yang lebih kuat.
(‘The water is pushing the paper down (by the gravity force) but the air around the paper is pushing it up with a stronger force.’)
